JUDD, YEOMANS, MILES, HUTCHINSON, ALL WINNERS AT DROUIN SPEEDWAY

Drouin Speedway Club played host to the Crash and Bash Ladies for their Victorian state title, and they did not disappoint. Pearcedale woman Lea Judd went on to claim her first state title in a popular win, whilst Nathan Miles, Werribee based visitor Arthur Hutchinson and Jack Yeomans were also winners in their respective classes.

In the Ladies Crash and Bash buoyed on by a significant crowd parking all the way to the top of Drouin Speedway’s property fence-line, Judd won the title first heat by a significant margin ahead of Danni Marshall. Tenneal Disher was punted out of the way through the dog leg early in the race. Disher, Marshall and then Judd led the race before Judd secured the win.

Judd then won the second heat by a similar margin again ahead of Marshall, however, did not have the race all her way as she came undone on lap five and had to work her way through from sixth to the win within four laps. Judd then did not hit the track in heat three and Marshall was able to claim victory, leading every lap to the finish.

Starting on the front row from the outside and alongside Marshall in the twenty-lap title race Judd would take the lead immediately from the drop of the green flag. There was plenty of spins, bumps and side swipes in the final with just the three drivers managing to stay on the lead lap.

Marshall was up and down the field depending on where and when she was contacted. Marshall was punted to the rear of the field on lap two, she came through the field to second by lap thirteen, however her car didn’t last, and she was out of the race soon after.

Stirling went backwards before coming forward, Glassborow was significant through the race making contact with somebody almost every second lap, and Judd did her own thing way out in front. Judd went on to win by half a track length ahead of Rebecca Glassborow, Romney Stirling, Marshall and Tenneal Disher.

Making comment after the race Judd was delighted. “Thank you to Bungy (Jason her husband) for everything he does to keep the car in top condition for racing. Thanks to my friends and family and the other girls, we all get along and have fun. Thanks to Mark Miles and his Miles Motorsport team and family for their support and friendship and to my girl Kath, my passenger today, she really helped and kept me focussed and laughing.”

In the Speedway Sedans Victoria licensed 1200cc Junior Sedans, Arthur Hutchinson defeated his sister Holly three times in the heat races before claiming the feature race win in front of her once more. Rebecca Johnstone finished in third with Jai Alexander and Libby Ahearn rounding out the top five finishers.

Nathan Miles won two of the three heat races in Junior Standard Saloons taking the lead on lap four and lap six respectively in his wins. He finished first in the other he was not declared the winner of which went the way of Ty Claridge after Miles and Chase Ingram incurred a penalty from the Stewards for contact.

In the final Miles led every lap and Miles finished over half a lap ahead of Liam Ingram too second spot when Claridge dropped out of the race. William Hickey, Charli Perkins and Ty Claridge rounded out the top five.

In Open Standard Saloon racing Jack Yeomans and Bryce Leek both won two heats apiece after sharing wins in round one and round three. Whilst Mark Miles and Tyson Cull won the second-round heat races, with Miles leading every lap in his win, Cull passing Harry Cecil on the final lap to win his heat.

Yeomans then won the final by a quarter of a lap after leading every lap, he finished ahead of Mark Miles, Cull, Brodie Robertson, and Chris Miles in a race where eight drivers finished on the lead lap.

Drouin Speedway Club acknowledge and thank these wonderful supporters.
